Algebra 1 - 2A+B (Gr.4-8)

Objective: to prepare students for the study of Algebra I. class Outline: Adding/Subtracting/Multiplying/Dividing Polynomials; Factoring Polynomials; Inequalities; Rational Expressions and Equations; Exponents and Radicals; Translating Word Problems; 2 Equations with 2 Unknowns; Variable Manipulation; Formulas; Functions; Selected Topics (time permitting). Each day will include some lecture time, some practice problems with solutions, and a short quiz. At the end of most days, we will connect that day’s material to the real world. Class Goals: Solve each day’s practice problems; perform well on each day’s quiz (open notes; calculator allowed). (Note: $15 materials fee)
