Objective: To prepare students for the study of calculus – pri- marily by making sure the students’ algebra and trigonometry “foundations” are solid. Topics covered: functions (polynomial and rational) and inverse functions; sets and real numbers; trigonometric functions and identities; the unit circle; binomial theorem; polar coordinates; parametric equations; limits of sequences and series. Each day will include some lecture time, some practice problems with solutions, and worksheets. At the end of each day, we will connect that day’s material to the real world. (Note: $15 materials fee)
