Smart Planning for Retirement, brought to you by Retirement Intelligence, is a practical, education-focused course designed for individuals and couples approaching or in retirement who want greater clarity and confidence in their financial decisions. Participants will learn how the key pieces of retirement planning fit together including income planning, Social Security and pension decisions, investment risk, taxes, healthcare costs, and long-term sustainability using real-world examples and clear, easy-to-understand frameworks. The course emphasizes informed decision making, helping students identify potential gaps, avoid common retirement pitfalls, and understand the trade-offs behind the choices they face. By the end of the course, attendees will have a clearer picture of where they stand and what next steps may be appropriate for their retirement plan.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Session 1 - Tuesday, October 6
  • Whether you can afford to retire, and when.
  • Whether your money lasts a 30-year retirement.
  • How much you can safely withdraw each year.
  • How to turn savings into income that arrives every month.
Session 2 - Tuesday, October 13
  • How to reduce the taxes you pay throughout retirement.
  • Roth conversions, and when they make sense.
  • How healthcare and long-term care costs get covered.
  • Wills, trusts, and the documents your family needs.
