In this class students will now take the structure they have learned in impromptu and spar debate and apply in a prepared format. Students will either write an informative or persuasive speech and for debate, will be introduced to congressional debate where they will research and write arguments in favor of legislation that they can understand and relate to. Students will learn researching skills including how to verify if a source is credible or valid, how to properly summarize or quote sources as well as how to give effective speeches using presentation and delivery skills required for both platform speeches and congressional debates. Students will end the camp with a mock round of students presenting speeches as well as debates. This class is recommended for students with prior knowledge of speech and debate. Students who are new are encouraged to take our intro to public speaking and debate class instead. (Note: $15 materials fee)
