Science of Everyday Things - 1C (Gr. 4-5)

« back to classes page
Many people view science as a remote field performed by distant professionals with secret laboratories and expensive tools. Schools and even many college courses focus on memorization of facts and information that science has brought to the world, rather than the true essence of science: the scientific process. The truth is that science can be applied to every aspect of our daily lives. In this class, we’ll use everyday materials to investigate, gather, and analyze information about the world around us. Each day, students will work on hands-on projects designed to deepen their understanding of science and create a lifelong habit of inquiry. Students get to take home their inventions at the end of each class. (Note: $40 materials fee)
