Learn Photography for Sports/Athletics

ClassGraphic This course will cover how to create newspaper photojournalism quality images for specific sports. Sessions will cover photography for specific sports (soccer, volleyball, rowing, water polo, swimming, basketball, softball, baseball, cross country / track, golf, etc.). Other sessions will cover group/team photography, portraits, software and workflow, including preparation and editing photos for clients, where to find work and how to get started. We will cover professional standards including copyright and work contracts.
But we will start out simply. There will be introductory classes and assignments to demonstrate photography basics and for the instructor to become familiar with the students’ capabilities and needs so that the class content can be tailored accordingly if necessary.

Prerequisites: Desire to learn athletics and event photography and / or to get started in the business of photography. Basic photography knowledge is required. Students should have a basic understanding of mirrorless or DSLR cameras and lenses. They should know how to change settings on their camera (shutter, f#, ISO) and be familiar with all menus. The class will be tailored to the overall class expertise base.

Requisites: Digital SLR or mirrorless camera of any type. It is understood that the students’ equipment will vary. But in this class you will learn techniques to improve your sports photography, applicable to all cameras.
